for years and years i have used what i call smelly chicken to bait my crab pots. go down to your local grocery store and buy a package of the cheapest frozen chicken on sale. let the chicken thaw out overnight in a warmer outside location. large garbage bags are the best and most convenient container for thawing and transporting chicken bait to your boat. the easiest way to bait your pots is before you get out on the open water. i suggest baiting the crab pots in the marina. stuff as much smelly chicken into each crab bait bag. smelly chicken can be used

for several crab pot drops. i only throw out chicken bones and always reuse any and all rotten chicken on the bone.
